By accessing or using the NYC Tutors platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our platform.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on NYC Tutors. Parents and guardians may create accounts on behalf of their minor children for the purpose of booking tutoring sessions.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.

Tutor accounts are subject to our verification process, which includes identity verification, background checks, and credential validation. NYC Tutors reserves the right to reject or suspend any tutor application that does not meet our standards.

NYC Tutors is a free community platform connecting families with volunteer tutors. We are not a tutoring agency and do not employ tutors directly. Tutors on our platform are community members responsible for the content and quality of their instruction.

You agree to use the platform only for its intended purpose of finding and booking free tutoring sessions. You may not use the platform to harass, spam, or defraud other users, or to collect personal information for unauthorized purposes.

All communications between families and tutors should be conducted through the NYC Tutors platform to maintain trust and safety for all community members.

All tutoring sessions on NYC Tutors are free for the community. There are no fees, charges, or subscriptions required to use the platform.

Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours before a scheduled session out of respect for the tutor's time. Repeated no-shows may result in temporary restrictions on booking new sessions.

NYC Tutors operates as a free community service. The platform is maintained through the generosity of our community and supporters.

Tutors agree to maintain accurate and honest profiles, including their qualifications, experience, and availability. Misrepresenting credentials is grounds for immediate removal from the platform.

Tutors are responsible for conducting sessions professionally, arriving on time, and providing instruction that aligns with the goals discussed with each student. Tutors must comply with all applicable laws and maintain any required licenses or certifications.

Tutors consent to our ongoing verification process, which may include periodic background check renewals and credential re-verification. Failure to pass a renewal check may result in account suspension.

NYC Tutors conducts background checks on all tutors through our partner, Checkr. While we take reasonable steps to verify tutor backgrounds, we cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of third-party background check results.

Users are encouraged to report any safety concerns, inappropriate behavior, or policy violations immediately through our platform. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action, which may include account suspension or removal.

NYC Tutors is not liable for the actions of individual tutors or families. We provide the platform and verification tools, but the tutoring relationship is between the tutor and the family.

The NYC Tutors platform, including its design, features, content, and branding, is owned by NYC Tutors and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the platform without written permission.

Tutors retain ownership of any original instructional materials they create. By uploading content to the platform, tutors grant NYC Tutors a limited license to display that content in connection with their tutor profile and services.

NYC Tutors is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform's reliability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NYC Tutors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or educational outcomes.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount you paid to NYC Tutors in the twelve months preceding the claim.

NYC Tutors reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice on the platform. Your continued use after such notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Either party may terminate their account at any time. Upon termination, any pending sessions will be handled according to our cancellation policy. Certain provisions of these terms, including limitation of liability and dispute resolution, survive termination.

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration in New York County, New York.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
