Use the search bar on the homepage or browse by subject, neighborhood, or category on our search page. Filter by availability, delivery mode, and price to find your perfect match.
Is NYC Tutors free to use?
Yes! NYC Tutors is completely free for students and parents. There are no platform fees, subscriptions, or commissions. Tutors set their own rates and you pay them directly.
How are tutors verified?
Every tutor undergoes a multi-step verification process including criminal background checks, identity verification, credential review, and reference checks before they can list on the platform.
Can I become a tutor?
Anyone with expertise in a subject can apply to teach on NYC Tutors. Sign up, complete your profile, and go through our verification process. Once approved, your listing goes live.
What subjects are available?
We have 120+ subjects listed across 11 categories — from traditional academics and test prep to music, sports, life skills, and hobbies like card magic and juggling. If you teach it, you can list it.
How do I cancel or reschedule a session?
You can cancel or reschedule directly through your dashboard or by messaging your tutor. We recommend giving at least 24 hours notice. Each tutor's cancellation policy is listed on their profile.
